Reporting accurately and consistently depends on having the right data foundation. This project moved the client from a manual, time-consuming reporting process to a future-ready reporting environment built on clean, trusted data and streamlined processes. With automated Power BI dashboards, clear standards, and broader stakeholder engagement, reporting became faster, smarter, and easier to scale across the organisation.

The Challenge

Our client was relying on complex Excel workbooks to manage operational reporting. These manual processes were time-consuming, inconsistent, and difficult to maintain, mainly due to poor data quality in the central reporting database. As a result:

  • Reports lacked consistency and trust
  • Stakeholders struggled to access reliable insights
  • The reporting team spent up to 30 hours a week compiling data
  • Organisational visibility was limited

Our client needed to move to a streamlined, centralised solution that delivered accurate, timely insights with less manual workload.

The Solution

We were engaged to lead the transition from Excel to Power BI, helping the organisation modernise its reporting while addressing core data quality issues.

Our work included:

  • Data Accuracy First
Collaborated with internal teams to clean and validate source data for dependable reporting.
  • Power BI Rollout
Migrated key reports to Power BI making them interactive, automated, and easier to understand.
  • Consistent Reporting Standards
Established shared templates and naming conventions for clarity and efficiency.
  • Upskilling Stakeholders
Trained business users to interpret dashboards confidently and independently. Training sessions were tailored to accommodate a range of technical skill levels, with a focus on helping users who were more familiar with Excel adapt to Power BI’s advanced capabilities.
  • Agile Delivery
Delivered improvements in short cycles, quickly incorporating feedback and building stakeholder buy-in.

The Impact

  • 80% reduction in manual reporting time (30 → 6 hours/week)
  • 10 Excel reports migrated and 8 new dashboards delivered to replace Excel reports
  • Double the audience now actively using reports
  • Improved data quality and trust across teams with access to the most current data available. With Azure connected to Power BI, reports are updated automatically, giving stakeholders access to real-time data at any moment.
  • Centralised and secure access to reports, improving version control and confidentiality
  • Stronger data governance and compliance alignment
